Ukrainian military intelligence presented in Kyiv the Magura V7 maritime drone, an unmanned platform that has already destroyed 21 enemy targets, including 16 Russian ships.
The official presentation of the Magura V7 maritime drone, which has become a symbol of the innovative superiority of Ukrainian forces in the Black Sea, took place in the capital, the intelligence service said on Thursday, 15 May. The event was organised by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine with the participation of the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, the legendary commander of the Group 13 special forces unit with the call sign “Thirteenth”, and intelligence officers.
“Magura is a new form of Ukrainian superiority. The family of these drones has already destroyed 21 enemy targets, including 16 ships, three helicopters and two fighter jets, worth more than $100 million,” said Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
Technical specifications of Magura V7
The Magura V7 is an autonomous kamikaze drone capable of not only engaging maritime targets, but also performing reconnaissance, ship protection, rescue and firefighting missions. Key features:
- Range: up to 800 nautical miles
- Autonomy: from 48 hours to 7 days
- Top speed: up to 39 knots
- Length: 7.2 m | Weight of full equipment: 3400 kg
- Equipment: satellite communications, electronic warfare system, day/night video system, combat module with machine gun, air defence
The Magura V7 can also carry missiles, and operates even in difficult weather conditions.
A new level of safety at sea
The intelligence service stressed that Magura is not only a weapon but a symbol of a new era in warfare. It is the first time in world history that an unmanned offshore platform has achieved such results in combat use.
“This is a Ukrainian innovation that has already changed the war and will change its course. Now Magura is also the name of the occupiers’ fear at sea,” Yusov said.
In addition to the main drone, other modifications were shown at the presentation – Magura V5 and Magura W6P, which have additional features and advanced weapons.
