UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced his intention to conclude a new strategic agreement with the European Union, which will be part of the wider ‘Blueprint for Change’ – a major government initiative aimed at boosting economic growth and restoring international confidence in the country after Brexit.
This is stated in an official statement on the British government’s website.
“We will not be locking ourselves away, but going out on the world stage, making deals in the interests of the British people. Tomorrow is another step forward: more benefits for the UK from a new partnership with the EU,” Starmer said.
The Prime Minister stressed that the new agreement will surpass the previous one, concluded by the Conservative government after leaving the EU, which, in his words, “does not work for either side”.
What will the new agreement bring?
It is expected that the future partnership with the EU will be a success:
- will contribute to economic growth,
- will ensure the creation of new jobs,
- will reduce household expenditures,
- and strengthen border control.
This is Britain’s third key international agreement in the last two weeks: earlier, the country reached trade deals with the United States and India.
