Ukraine exported 38.303 mln tonnes of grains and pulses in 11 months of 2024/2025 marketing year (MY). This is down from over 46.5 mln tonnes in the same period of the previous season.

This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food with reference to the operational data of the State Customs Service.

Key export indicators:

  • Wheat – 14.8 million tonnes (last year: 17.4 million tonnes)
  • Corn – 20.5 million tonnes (last year: 26.6 million tonnes)
  • Barley – 2.3 million tonnes (2.4 million tonnes last year)
  • Rye – 10.8 thousand tonnes (last year: 1.6 thousand tonnes)

We also exported 65 thousand tonnes of flour, which is 30% less than in the same period last year (92.5 thousand tonnes).

What it means:

Market analysts attribute the decline to several factors:

  • Changes in logistics due to the war,
  • Volatile global markets,
  • Increased competition from South America and Russia.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food notes that despite the challenges, Ukraine has remained a key player in the grain market, in particular due to the operation of sea corridors and adapted export schemes.
