British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a radical overhaul of the country’s defence policy, outlining three fundamentalgoals that the government intends to achieve in the new geopolitical reality.

“We are facing the most serious threats since the Cold War – war in Europe, cyber attacks, Russian aggression, growing nuclear risks. This is a new era, and we need a new strategy,” Starmer said in Glasgow.

Three main goals:

  1. The biggest increase in military salaries in the last 20 years is to maintain morale and professionalism.
  2. Strengthening the UK’s role in NATO to enhance the Alliance’s collective defence.
  3. Accelerating the introduction of military innovations to combat current and future threats.

New investments and defence projects:

  • 15 billion for the “sovereign warhead programme” (nuclear weapons).
  • Construction of 6 ammunition plants.
  • The creation of a hybrid fleet is a combination of drones with traditional ships, aircraft and submarines.
  • Improving living conditions and equipment for military personnel.
