Ukraine’s First Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergii Kyslytsya, harshly criticised the activities of the United Nations, in particular Russia’s impunity in the Security Council and inappropriate decisions of the General Assembly, against the backdrop of a full-scale war in Ukraine.
On his X (formerly Twitter) page, Kyslytsya sharply commented on the new UN resolution declaring 11 July as World Horse Day. The initiative belonged to Mongolia, a country that, according to the diplomat, despite having signed the Rome Statute, did not detain Vladimir Putin during his visit.
“In the meantime, the Organisation is transforming itself into a body for celebrating international days. World Horse Day? Seriously? The horses are not to blame,” Kyslytsya wrote, referring to a literary work by Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi.
The diplomat noted that as long as Russia, the aggressor state, enjoys the rights of a permanent member of the Security Council, this body is unable to fulfil its primary mission. In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is initiating a review of approaches to supporting such resolutions in the future.
“The perpetrators should be brought to justice, and if there is something to be done, they should be dragged to the stables in The Hague,” Kyslytsya concluded.
