UK and Germany present a new format of assistance to Ukraine within the framework of Ramstein

Brussels, 5 June– The United Kingdom and Germany, which have assumed the chairmanship of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG), will present a new, more structured approach to military assistance today. German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said this before the start of the Ramstein meeting in Brussels, Ukrinform reports.

“John Healey and I will continue the work we started at our last meeting today,” Pistorius said. “We want to improve coordination, increase efficiency and provide a more transparent structure for aid to Ukraine.

The UDCG format, also known as Ramstein, was previously coordinated by the United States. However, Washington has announced its intention to hand over leadership. This role has now been taken over by London and Berlin.

The German defence minister stressed that despite the change of formal presidency, the dialogue with American partners continues. “We are in constant contact with the United States, because their participation remains critically important,” he stressed.

German and British representatives promise to announce the details of the new approach at a joint press conference after the meeting.
