US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has said that the US Senate is ready to give President Donald Trump more leverage over Vladimir Putin – “and it won’t be carrots”. He wrote about this on the social network X.
Graham, who has long considered Trump a potential peacemaker in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, said:
“I’ve always believed that Trump is probably the only one who can end the war fairly and justly.”
However, he acknowledged that Putin’s aggressive policy requires new, tougher methods of influence:
“The Senate is about to give President Trump more tools in his arsenal, and they won’t be diplomatic niceties,” Graham said.
These statements were made against the backdrop of Donald Trump’s political activism in foreign policy, particularly in the context of the war in Ukraine.
