Ukraine’s trade turnover reached $48.2 billion in 5 months of 2025: imports significantly exceed exports

In January-May 2025, Ukraine’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $48.2 billion. This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine on Telegram.

Total imports amounted to $31.3bn, while exports totalled $16.9bn. Of the total imports, 76% ($23.8bn) were taxed imports.

The tax burden per 1 kg of taxable imports in the reporting period was $0.51.

Most of the goods came to Ukraine from:

  • China – $6.5 billion;
  • Poland – $2.9 billion;
  • Germany – $2.6 billion.

Imports made up the bulk of the total:

  • machinery, equipment and transport – $11.9 billion (29% of customs revenues);
  • chemical products – $5.2 billion (15%);
  • fuel and energy materials – $4 billion (27%).

As for exports, most Ukrainian goods were supplied to the following countries:

  • Poland – $2 billion;
  • Turkey – $1.4 billion;
  • Italy – $1 billion.

Most of them were exported:

  • food products – $9.7 billion;
  • Metals and metal products – $1.9 billion;
  • machinery, equipment and transport – $1.5 billion.

The budget received UAH 121.6 million in five months of 2025 from exports of goods subject to export duty.
