Iranian intelligence services have announced that they have received a large number of classified documents on Israel’s nuclear industry, including data on facilities that official Tel Aviv traditionally does not comment on. This was reported by Reuters with reference to Iranian state media.
“The operation was carried out some time ago, but due to the large volume of materials and the need for their safe transportation to Iran, it was not reported earlier,” Iranian media say.
The report notes that there are so many documents that it took a long time to review them, as well as analyse the accompanying videos and photos. No specific details or contents of the files have been released.
Official Israel has not yet commented on the situation.
Reuters notes that it is unclear whether this message is related to last year’s hack of the Sorek nuclear centre, which was reported in September 2024 by the Iranian hacker group Handala, allegedly linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Tehran’s announcement came amid another escalation over its own nuclear programme, which Israel and its Western allies consider a potential threat. The announcement could be an element of information warfare or a demonstration of Iran’s cyber-espionage capabilities.
Analysts suggest that the disclosure of the “evidence” – if it happens – could become an information attack against Israel in the context of growing pressure on Tehran over its uranium enrichment.
