On Monday morning, Poland sent up fighter jets in response to Russia’s massive missile attack on Ukrainian territory. This was reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces on the social network X.
“In connection with the intense air attack by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft began operating in Polish airspace in the morning,” the statement said.
It is noted that regular pairs of fighter jets were raised into the air, and ground-based air defence and radar systems were put on full alert. All actions were preventive and aimed at ensuring the security of Polish airspace near the border with Ukraine.
The command stressed that it was constantly monitoring the situation and was ready to respond immediately to any threats. Later, the Polish army announced the completion of air patrols and the return of fighter jets to their bases.
