Errol Musk arrives in Moscow and comments on his son’s conflict with Trump
A public conflict has erupted between Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump, threatening to destroy their former alliance. The reason was Musk’s criticism of the presidential tax bill, which the billionaire called a “disgusting abomination”. Trump responded, and a war of words erupted on social media. This was reported by Reuters.
However, Elon Musk’s father, Errol, unexpectedly defended both of them, saying during his visit to Moscow that the quarrel was a result of exhaustion and stress on both sides.
“They are very tired, they have been under tremendous pressure for five months. This was expected. Elon made a mistake, but he’s just exhausted,” said 79-year-old Errol Musk in an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia.
He also suggested that Trump, as president-elect, would emerge victorious from the conflict. He called the quarrel itself “a trifle that everyone will forget tomorrow”.
However, Trump went further: on Saturday, he officially declared that his friendship with Musk was over and hinted at “serious consequences” if he supported the Democrats financially. This points to a deeper political fissure. After all, it was Musk who was a key donor to Trump’s 2024 campaign and was chosen by him to lead a plan to radically reduce the US administrative apparatus.
Interestingly, Errol Musk is in Moscow at the invitation of pro-Kremlin oligarch Konstantin Malofeev, where he is speaking at the TsargradTV forum. It also states: Sergey Lavrov, Pyotr Tolstoy, Sergey Mironov and other representatives of the Russian political establishment.
