United States President Donald Trump is convening a meeting of the National Security Council on Friday morning (Eastern Time) to review the situation following Israel’s large-scale strike on Iran. This is evidenced by the official schedule of the head of state, released by the White House.

As stated in the document, the meeting will take place at 11:00 a.m. Washington time (18:00 p.m. Kyiv time). The agenda includes an assessment of the consequences of the Israeli operation, Tehran’s potential response, threats to US allies in the region, and the US role in preventing further escalation.

This is the first official reaction from the White House after Israel’s public confirmation of preemptive strikes on Iranian territory, including nuclear facilities. The day before, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the operation was a “historic moment” for Israel’s security, and Tehran promised a tough response.

There is growing concern in Washington that an armed conflict between Iran and Israel could draw the United States into a new large-scale war in the Middle East. Trump, who is an isolationist, is expected to insist on restraint, but it is possible that the US will support its ally in the event of a direct Iranian attack.
