Iran has launched more than a hundred combat drones towards Israel over the past few hours. This was announced by Israeli Defence Forces spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin, The Times of Israel reports.
According to the general, the Israeli Defence Forces have detected a massive launch of drones from Iran, which are in the air and heading towards Israel. “We are talking about more than 100 drones that Iran launched within a few hours,” Defrin said.
He stressed that it would take several more hours for these devices to reach their targets on Israeli territory, and that the relevant units have already been mobilised and are working to detect and destroy them.
The IDF is reassuring the population and urging them to remain calm, stay in protected areas and follow the instructions of the Home Front Command.
These developments are part of a rapid escalation of the conflict following Israel’s preemptive strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, which reportedly led to the elimination of several key figures in Iran’s military command.
