The Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), which is under the control of the Russian military, plans to build a new pumping unit to pump water from the Dnipro River to the cooling pond. This is stated in the report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

As noted, the ZNPP administration informed the IAEA that the new project should provide cooling for first one and then two reactors until the water level in the pond is fully restored.

“The plant stated that the pumping unit will supply water to the cooling pond until the Kakhovka dam is restored to operation,” the IAEA said.

However, the exact location of the pumping station has not yet been determined. Construction is possible only after the cessation of active hostilities, the administration stressed.
