Ukraine and Russia plan to continue the exchange of prisoners of war next week in accordance with the agreements reached. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address, Ukrinform reports.

“Today is another exchange, the fourth one this week. It is very important that we bring our guys home from Russian captivity,” Zelenskyy stressed.

According to the Head of State, the released prisoners include Ukrainian officers, border guards, soldiers and sergeants. Some of them had been held in Russian captivity since 2022 – defenders of Mariupol, Azovstal, and fighters from other areas.

“The conditions of the returned soldiers are really very difficult. But they are already at home. All of them are being provided with the necessary assistance after being wounded and after the harsh conditions of captivity,” the President stressed.

Zelenskyy said that an agreement had been reached on new exchanges as early as next week and expressed hope that Russia would fulfil its part of its humanitarian obligations.
