On the eve of the final day of the G7 summit in Canada, Russia launched a massive drone strike on Ukrainian territory, demonstrating a blatant disregard for global efforts to end the war. This was stated by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga on the X platform.
“Last night, Russia launched a massive and brutal attack on Ukraine. Hundreds of drones and missiles targeted civilians. Kyiv was particularly heavily attacked. Putin is doing this on purpose, just before the G7 summit,” Sibiga wrote.
According to the minister, the Kremlin is cynically manipulating the topic of peace while unleashing aggression against civilians. Such actions, according to Sibiga, are intended to create the illusion of weakness on the part of Western leaders.
“Putin’s goal is very simple: to make the G7 leaders look weak. Only decisive steps and real pressure on Moscow can prove him wrong,” the Foreign Minister stressed.
According to preliminary data, air defence systems destroyed most of the enemy targets, but there was damage to civilian infrastructure and civilian casualties. Official figures are being updated.
