All flights to and from the popular Indonesian resort island of Bali resumed on Thursday after massive delays and cancellations caused by the eruption of the Levotobi Laki Laki volcano.
Reuters reports this with reference to local officials.
According to Bali’s airport operator, 87 flights – 66 international and 21 domestic – were cancelled or delayed on Wednesday due to the eruption. The destinations included flights to Australia, Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia.
On Thursday, flights from Bali resumed, with scheduled flights to Australia, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and China. Malaysia Airlines, Virgin Australia, JetStar, and Singapore Airlines are among the airlines that operated the flights.
In addition, on Thursday, two airports in East Nusa Tenggara province, which were temporarily closed the day before, reopened. At the same time, the Francis Xavier Seda Airport in Maumere will remain closed until Friday due to the presence of volcanic ash in the air, which poses a threat to flight safety.
