SpaceX’s Starship megastar rocket, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, exploded on Thursday during a routine test at Starbase in Texas, USA, the BBC reports.
“The Starship, which was preparing for its tenth test flight, experienced a serious anomaly while on the test stand at Starbase,” SpaceX said in a statement on the X platform.
The company stressed that “the security zone around the facility was maintained throughout the operation” and “all personnel are safe”.
The live stream captured the moment the Starship exploded at the Texas base.
This is not the first incident with the mega rocket. At the end of May, Starship successfully reached space but exploded before its scheduled return to Earth.
