The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that the frontline in eastern and southern Ukraine has expanded significantly – over the course of the year, it has increased by 200 km and now reaches about 1,200 km. He said this during a meeting with journalists, Time Ukraine Israel reports.

The enemy is preparing for a long conflict

According to Syrsky, the Russian Federation is deliberately relying on a war of attrition.

“This is their main strategy – to drag out the war, to put pressure on the masses, to exhaust our forces. We see this by all indications,” he said.

The general said that over the past year, Russia has recruited approximately 440,000 contract soldiers – people who agreed to fight for money, attracted by high pay and regional allowances.

Russia’s strategic reserve: more than 120 thousand more

Separately, the Commander-in-Chief drew attention to the presence of the Russian army’s strategic reserve, which includes:

  • 13 divisions;
  • Several regiments and brigades;
  • The total number of soldiers is over 121,000.

“Their goal is to impose a battle on us with human resources. But we are ready, we know how and with whom we are dealing,” emphasised Syrsky.

Ukrainian forces continue to hold the line

Against the backdrop of increasing enemy pressure, the Ukrainian Defence Forces are adapting to the new conditions at the front, despite challenges and resource imbalances. According to Syrskyi, the situation remains difficult but under control.
