As part of the European Union’s initiative to supply Ukraine with 2 million rounds of ammunition in 2025, commitments have already been made for 80% of the planned amount.
This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, before the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on Monday.
“I am pleased to announce that within the ammunition initiative, Ukraine has already pledged 80 per cent of the planned volume. But, of course, more needs to be done to reach the target of 2 million rounds by the end of this year,” she said.
Kallas stressed that Russia’s war against Ukraine will be one of the key topics of today’s EU Council meeting and that pressure on Russia should be increased.
“Even though all the attention is now focused on the situation in Iran and the Middle East, people are dying in Kyiv every day because of Russian bombing. We must keep up the pressure on Russia. That is why we are promoting the 18th package of sanctions. We also need to ensure uninterrupted military support for Ukraine,” the head of European diplomacy stressed.
