Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday that a ceasefire with Iran had been agreed and stressed that the Israeli Armed Forces had achieved “all of its goals,” including neutralising the existential threat posed by Iran’s nuclear programme and ballistic missiles, Ynet reports.
“The Israeli Defence Forces have established full control over the airspace over Tehran, inflicted heavy blows on Iran’s military leadership and eliminated dozens of key regime facilities,” Netanyahu said.
The Prime Minister thanked US President Donald Trump for supporting the operation and assured that any violation of the ceasefire by Iran would be “immediately deterred” by force.
Netanyahu also stressed that Israel’s goal was not to escalate the conflict, but to eliminate immediate threats to the existence of the state, after which a truce was decided.
