As a result of a joint operation involving SHABAK, MAGAV, and IDF, a refugee from Tulkarm suspected of involvement in the shelling of Bat Hefer was apprehended at the end of May. During interrogation, the detainee, Amar Nasralla, confessed to participating in a terrorist cell that carried out attacks around the separation barrier. He also provided information leading to the apprehension of several other members of the cell.

Bat Hefer is located in central Israel near Tulkarm, separated only by a fence. Recent months have seen regular shootings from Tulkarm towards Bat Hefer.

In recent months, terrorist activity has escalated in the refugee camps of Tulkarm and Nur-Shams. Terrorists have targeted IDF positions and surrounding settlements, posting attack videos online and receiving financial rewards from higher authorities.

One of the recent serious incidents involved 30 Palestinians crossing the barrier into the Bat Hefer area. Many of the infiltrators were apprehended and questioned. This has caused panic in the Hefer Valley, with residents of nearby settlements expecting similar attacks since October 7th.
