Washington, DC, 5 February 2025 – Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, speaking at the US-Ukraine Business Forum, stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States, which has broad prospects in the field of defence and the military-industrial complex. He made the announcement on his Telegram channel.
Ukraine is a future strategic ally of the United States
Budanov emphasised that Ukraine has one of the strongest armies on the continent, has unique military experience and is an attractive platform for cooperation in the field of military technology.
“Post-war Ukraine will be able to become the main US ally in the region, as it has a powerful military-industrial complex and invaluable combat experience. In the new global reality, where freedom and security are unshakable values, our partnership will play a key role,” he said.
Russia seeks to use Ukraine’s resources against the West
Budanov reminded that one of the main goals of the Russian war is to seize Ukraine, its natural resources and defence industry for use against Western countries in the future.
He also thanked the American people for their significant support in Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression and stressed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to defend democratic values and freedom.
Ukraine and the United States: a new level of defence partnership
Budanov stressed that cooperation in the field of military technology and defence industry development is extremely promising.
“Now is the time to strengthen cooperation between our governments and businesses. The Ukraine of the future is not only a reliable partner, but also a guarantor of stability and security in the region,” he said.
The Washington Forum is a key platform for partnership
The U.S.-Ukraine Business Forum, organised by the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council in partnership with the Atlantic Council, brought together government, business and expert representatives to discuss the prospects for economic and defence cooperation between Ukraine and the United States.
Budanov thanked the participants of the event for their contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership, which is the key to a secure and just future.
