Apple and Nvidia Eyeing Major Investments in OpenAI, Pushing Valuation Beyond $100 Billion

OpenAI

Apple and Nvidia are reportedly in discussions to make significant investments in OpenAI, the company behind the revolutionary AI tool ChatGPT, which has sparked a technological frenzy since its launch in late 2022. With ChatGPT’s user base now reaching 200 million, double what it was a year ago, OpenAI is preparing for a new funding round that could substantially boost its market valuation, reported Reuters.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple is showing strong interest in investing in OpenAI, while Bloomberg News highlights potential investments from Nvidia. Previously, it was revealed that Thrive Capital plans to contribute $1 billion to OpenAI, and Microsoft, currently the company’s largest investor, is also expected to participate in the new funding round.

If deals with tech giants like Apple and Nvidia materialize, OpenAI’s valuation could soar past $100 billion, making it one of the most valuable companies in the AI sector. This would mark a significant leap from the $80 billion valuation following the last funding round in February 2023.

OpenAI, which has remained independent, has been the catalyst for the explosive interest in generative AI. The launch of ChatGPT in November 2022 captured the attention of investors worldwide, and the company continues to attract new users and investors with its innovative approach to AI development and the introduction of a subscription model for ChatGPT.
