Russian authorities have blacklisted 79 musicians and bands, banning their involvement in advertising and promotional materials. As The Moscow Times reports, the artists on the list are also prohibited from having their music used at public events.

The blacklist includes globally recognized names like Beyoncé, Metallica, Lana Del Rey, Hozier, and Florence + The Machine, as well as exiled Russian comedians and TikTok creators who focus on apolitical content. Despite this, a third of the artists on the list have concerts scheduled in Russia in the next six months.

Some performers from the blacklist are still allowed to hold concerts, according to Vyorstka. However, 19 artists previously canceled their shows for political reasons. The list also includes Russian artists who have publicly supported the Russian military in the war against Ukraine.

Interestingly, six artists have been removed from the list, including one who condemned the war publicly. Meanwhile, 10 artists remain on the blacklist despite having performed in occupied territories of Ukraine, although they initially opposed the war.
