Today, August 18, 2024, marks the 317th day of the “Iron Swords” war, which Israel is waging against terrorist organizations in Gaza, Judea, and Samaria, as well as in Lebanon, since the conflict began on October 7, 2023.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continue ground operations in Gaza, dismantling Hamas infrastructure and neutralizing militants. The IDF is also striking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon and continuing operations in Judea and Samaria, preparing for possible mass attacks from the north and east.
Chronology of Events on August 18, 2024:

The IDF continues ground operations in Gaza, with major combat activities centered in the middle and southern parts of the sector, while strikes are also being conducted in the northern sector. Troops from the 98th Division are operating in the Khan Yunis area, in the south of the sector, and on the outskirts of Deir al-Balah in the center. They destroyed rocket launchers used by terrorists to target Israeli territory. The 162nd Division continues its operation in the Rafah area, in the south. Troops from the “Nahal” Brigade have neutralized a group of militants, attacked terrorist sites, and uncovered weapons and ammunition.
Police are active in the Ar-Ram area, north of Jerusalem, using special measures to disperse crowds.

Sources in Gaza report IDF strikes on targets in Khan Yunis and artillery shelling in the east of Al-Maghazi. The Israeli Air Force attacked a target east of Al-Bureij and shelled a target near the Tayba mosque in the Tal as-Sultan area, west of Rafah.

IDF artillery continues to shell targets in the Sabra and Zaytoun areas in the southeast of Gaza City.

Sources report shelling in the Zaytoun area and strikes on the Al-Yaji family home in Nuseirat. Shelling of targets in Nuseirat continues. PA sources report the conclusion of the IDF operation in Nablus.

Lebanese sources report artillery shelling in the Aita ash-Shaab area in southern Lebanon. Strikes continue on targets in the area of the Al-Iman mosque and the Musaba family home in Abasan al-Kabira.
The IDF confirmed the elimination of two influential Hamas commanders in Jenin – Ahmad Abu Ara and Rafat Duasi, who were killed during an airstrike. They were responsible for organizing attacks, including the August 11 incident that killed Yonatan Deutsch.
