As Vesty reports,On August 27, 2024, Air France, one of Europe’s largest airlines, announced the resumption of flights to Israel. This move stands out as many other major carriers have yet to announce when they will return to Israel, given the ongoing conflict in the region.

Delays and Restrictions by Other Carriers

While Air France returns to Israeli skies, British Airways has extended its ban on flights to Tel Aviv until August 28. Another major European carrier, Iberia, also won’t resume flights until that date.

Among other airlines still on hold, Polish LOT plans to resume flights on August 27. Latvian AirBaltic and Italian ITA Airways will delay flights until September, while Ryanair, Europe’s largest low-cost carrier, has extended its flight cancellations until the end of September.

American carriers are also continuing to hold off. Delta Airlines has canceled flights until the end of October, while United Airlines has suspended flights indefinitely. American and European low-cost carriers, such as EasyJet and Transavia Airlines, have decided not to resume flights to Israel until spring 2025.

Impact on Travel and Aviation

Air France’s decision is significant given the challenging circumstances. While other airlines remain cautious due to safety concerns, the resumption of flights by one of Europe’s leading carriers could help restore normal air traffic in the region.

Nevertheless, regional instability continues to affect aviation. Carriers like Ethiopian Airlines have already returned to their regular schedules, but others, including Israeli carriers Arkia and Israir, continue to experience occasional disruptions due to dependence on foreign partners.
The resumption of Air France flights to Israel shows cautious optimism in restoring air connectivity. However, many carriers remain on pause due to safety risks. Future developments will depend on the region’s stability.
