A tragic incident in Ternopil has shaken the city: a major shot and killed a serviceman who had an intimate relationship with his wife. The event took place on the night of July 21 in one of the city’s hotels.

Details of the Tragedy

According to Julia Shevchenko, spokesperson for the Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region, the conflict arose from the major’s jealousy after he “caught” his 25-year-old colleague in a hotel on Stepana Budnoho Street. The major, in a state of rage, fired six shots from a “Glock-17” pistol at the senior sergeant of the border detachment. The serviceman died at the scene from his injuries.

Law Enforcement’s Reaction

The police are currently considering the possibility of detaining the major. Additionally, suspicions of premeditated murder are being prepared. Local media report that the discovery of his wife’s infidelity triggered the conflict, which resulted in the fatal outcome.

According to Julia Shevchenko, investigative actions are ongoing, and law enforcement is taking all necessary steps to clarify the circumstances of the incident. The investigation aims to establish all the details of the tragic event and ensure the accountability of those responsible.

This incident has been a severe blow to the military community and residents of Ternopil. The society is shocked by the brutality and tragic consequences of personal conflicts that escalated into criminal offenses.
