Marvel Studios has captivated the world with the trailer for its upcoming film “Captain America: Brave New World,” featuring Israeli actress Shira Haas alongside Harrison Ford and Anthony Mackie. Haas secured the role of Israeli superhero Sabra nearly two years ago, but her involvement in the film has sparked controversy.

The storyline involving Sabra has drawn protests from anti-Israel activists, particularly following the onset of conflict in the Gaza Strip. This protest escalated into widespread pressure on the studio to remove all scenes featuring Haas. However, Marvel stood firm, even increasing Haas’s screen time in the final cut of the film, raising questions about the reasons behind this decision.

Some Hollywood journalists suggest it could be a response to pressure from anti-Semitic groups, or recognition of Haas’s exceptional acting talent.

It’s worth noting that alongside the presence of a Mossad agent, which displeased American left-wing radicals, the casting choice has also failed to resonate positively among comic book fans. This is especially true among the conservative white American audience, which does not support African-American actors in the role of “Captain America.”

The film “Captain America: Brave New World” is set to release in February 2025. Box office predictions are not optimistic, attributed both to politically correct casting choices and audience fatigue with typical comic book blockbusters and their stereotypical visual effects.

The character of Israeli superhero Sabra first appeared in Marvel comics in 1980, under the pseudonym of Israeli Ruth Bat-Seraph. According to the comic’s plot, she discovered her superpowers in childhood and underwent special training to become a Mossad agent.

Shira Haas is a renowned Israeli actress of theater, film, and television, internationally acclaimed for her leading role in the miniseries “Unorthodox.”
