the first telephone talks took place between the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Andriy Belousov and his American colleague, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin. The initiative to hold the conversation came from the American side.
According to Pentagon official Patrick Ryder, the discussion touched on key issues related to the Ukrainian crisis.
Lloyd Austin emphasized the importance of maintaining open lines of communication between defense agencies amid current tensions.
The Russian side, represented by Minister Belousov, expressed concern over the further escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, blaming it on the continued supply of American weapons to Kyiv.
Belousov said that such actions could lead to unforeseen consequences and further aggravation of the situation.
At the same time, international experts point out that the supply of arms to Ukraine helps deter aggression and protect civilians from attacks.
