Over the past day, 22 March 2025, 147 military clashes took place between the Ukrainian military and the Russian occupation forces. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 23 March in its official Facebook post. The enemy’s main pressure fell on the Donetsk region, where the largest number of attacks was recorded, but Ukrainian defenders continue to resist attacks and inflict significant losses on the enemy.
Hot spots on the frontline
According to the General Staff, the Pokrovske direction in Donetsk region remains the epicentre of hostilities, where Russian troops conducted 44 attacks. The occupants made 21 attempts to improve their positions in the Toretsk and Lyman sectors, but failed. In the Novopavlivka sector, which borders on the Dnipro region, 17 combat engagements were registered.
In the Kharkiv region, Ukrainian defence forces repelled four assaults near Kupiansk, in particular in the areas of Zahryzove and Petropavlivka, as well as four attacks near Vovchansk. In the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold part of the territory, Russian troops made 25 offensive attempts but failed to break through the Ukrainian defences. Instead, the occupiers inflicted significant damage to their own lands, shelling them almost 360 times and dropping 28 precision-guided bombs.
Enemy losses
Over the past day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine killed 1,470 Russian occupants, bringing the total number of Russian casualties since the beginning of the full-scale invasion to 903,480. In addition, Ukrainian defenders destroyed a significant amount of enemy equipment: 36 tanks and armoured combat vehicles, 104 artillery pieces, six multiple launch rocket systems and five air defence systems.
Situation at the frontline
The General Staff notes that Russian troops continue to attempt to break through Ukrainian defences, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces demonstrate a high level of resilience and professionalism. The situation remains particularly tense in Donetsk region, where the enemy has concentrated significant forces. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counter-offensive continues in Kursk region, forcing the Russian command to redeploy reserves and intensify shelling.
Conclusions.
The 147 military clashes per day indicate the high intensity of the war, which has been going on for more than three years. The Ukrainian military is not only holding back the enemy, but also inflicting significant blows on it, destroying personnel and equipment. The General Staff calls on citizens to trust only official sources of information and support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Data on the situation at the front continues to be updated.
