According to mignews, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has expressed support for the idea of deploying long-range American “Tomahawk” missiles on German territory. In an interview with the German publication WAZ, she emphasized that the constant threats from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is expanding his arsenal, require European countries to take additional measures to counteract aggression.
Baerbock noted that to protect Germany and its Baltic partners, measures must be taken that include strengthening deterrence systems and utilizing new defense tools. She called inaction on this issue “utter irresponsibility” and “naivety,” stressing the importance of ensuring national and European security.
“Putin is trying to scare us, pressure us, and divide our societies. We need to counter these threats to ensure peace and stability in the region,” Baerbock emphasized.
She also added that the deployment of “Tomahawk” missiles would be an important step in strengthening the defensive capabilities of Germany and its allies in Europe, which is crucial for maintaining stability amid growing geopolitical challenges.
