On 14 January, an arson incident occurred in Erftstadt at 8 zum Renngraben, where a Ukrainian citizen has lived for 14 years. The Ukrainian, who had hung the national flag of Ukraine on his balcony, became a victim of aggression. This was reported by the victim himself.
According to him, the flag was hung as a sign of support for his homeland, but this act caused a negative reaction. On the evening of 14 January, unknown persons set fire to the balcony, fortunately without causing any casualties or serious damage. The motives of the perpetrators remain unknown, and the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
This act of vandalism caused outrage among the local community and intensified discussions about the need to ensure security and protect the rights of national minorities. The authorities of Erftstadt call on all citizens to remain calm and respectful, reminding them of the importance of tolerance and diversity in modern society.
