According to the BBC, Europe is facing a “once-in-a-generation” security challenge. This was stated by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer during talks on further support for Ukraine and the overall security of the continent.
A summit with the leaders of European countries and Canada is currently taking place in London. According to the BBC, Starmer is expected to issue a separate statement after the meeting with details of the decisions taken.
Earlier, in a commentary for the BBC, the British Prime Minister said that London and Paris are working together with Kyiv on a plan to end the fighting in Ukraine. This plan is also to be discussed with the United States.
After the summit, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with King Charles III.
According to the BBC’s diplomatic correspondent, although the summit was planned long before the high-profile quarrel in the Oval Office between Zelensky and Trump, this incident may become the main topic of the meeting.
The summit participants are expected to discuss the strategy of Western support for Ukraine, preserving the unity of the allies and joint actions in response to threats to European security.
