The leader of the HaMahaneh HaMamlachti party, Benny Gantz, responded to the insulting remarks made against him during a protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem. Benny Gantz has faced a lot of criticism for his position.

After the incident, Beni Gantz posted a message on the social network X, which sparked a heated discussion among opposition members.

Ganz: “I was called a traitor”

“Today I came to an important rally against the dismissal of the head of Shabak. Most of the patriotic demonstrators greeted me warmly, but among them was a group of radicals whom I call ‘barn burners’. They hate Netanyahu more than they love their country. These people had the nerve to call me a ‘traitor’ – me, Benny Gantz, who risked his life in wars for decades and has been fighting on the political front for six years now,” Gantz said.

His words provoked a controversial reaction in political circles, with some supporting Beni Ganz and others denying his actions.

Golan: “These people are true patriots”

Former Deputy Chief of the Israeli General Staff Yair Golan disagreed with Beni Gantz’s statement, in particular with the comparison of the demonstrators with the radical Zealots of the Great Uprising in Judea.

“The people who came to the demonstration are true patriots and Zionists. They are fighting for the future of the country, defending democracy, the homeland and the hostages,” Golan said while discussing Benny Gantz’s position.

Protests and divisions among the opposition

The protests against Netanyahu continue, and the situation is escalating not only because of the political struggle, but also because of the split within the opposition. The discussion between Benny Gantz and Golan demonstrates that even among the opponents of the current government, there is no unity of opinion on the situation in the country.
