Japanese automaker Honda is recalling 294,612 vehicles in the US due to a serious engine problem. Reuters reports with reference to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Which models are subject to recall?
The list includes the following models:
- Acura MDX Type-S (2022-2025),
- Honda Pilot (2023-2025),
- Acura TLX Type-S (2021-2025).
What is the cause?
According to the NHTSA, the problem lies in the software of the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU). A system failure can cause the engine to stall suddenly or lose power, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries.
What should owners do?
Honda dealers will reprogram the FI-ECU free of charge to resolve the fault.
