Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has officially announced the launch of its latest TEASER guided missile system, the first of its kind to implement external optical guidance technology without the use of traditional homing sensors. The system, called Automatic Control Line of Sight (ACLOS), offers an affordable, accurate and reliable solution that is optimally suited for modern combat conditions, particularly for infantry units. According to TimeUkraineIsrael, citing Defence-industry, TEASER aims to increase the combat effectiveness of ground forces by providing them with a versatile and cost-effective weapon that meets a variety of operational needs.

Features and benefits of the TEASER system

The TEASER missile is capable of engaging a wide range of targets, including ground fortifications, light structures, lightly armoured vehicles, as well as low-altitude air threats and moving targets. The system is highly customisable to meet specific user requirements and ensures mission success in a variety of combat scenarios. In addition, TEASER is not dependent on global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), which gives it greater independence in combat operations and ease of use. This is important because it allows ground forces to respond effectively to new threats, reducing the need for external resources.

One of the key innovations of the system is the use of an external optical guidance system – TEASER-SIGHT – which eliminates the need for traditional homing sensors, reducing the weight and cost of the missile. TEASER-SIGHT can also be connected to external sensors, increasing reliability and survivability in combat. The two-stage engine, which includes an ejection stage and an accelerator, allows soldiers to launch the missile from protected positions, which is especially important in urban environments and confined combat situations.

Operating modes and tactical use

The TEASER missile system offers two modes of operation: shoulder-launch and remote launch. In the shoulder-launch mode, a single soldier can easily carry the TEASER-SIGHT and the missile, which provides high mobility and ease of use in dynamic combat conditions. In the remote launch mode, multiple TEASER missiles can be deployed from a launcher placed on the ground or in a vehicle, while the operator controls the system from a separate location via a ground control station (GCS). This flexibility provides continuous fire support, enabling the system to be used for a variety of purposes, including border protection, while keeping operators at a safe distance from potential threats.

Colonel (Ret.) Jacob Galifat, General Manager of IAI’s MALAM Division, highlighted the importance of the TEASER system in meeting the critical needs of battalion-level tactical teams, noting its independence, manageability and affordability, which provide impressive performance. The system represents a significant step forward in infantry weaponry and demonstrates IAI’s leadership in defence technology.

IAI is a recognised global leader in aerospace and defence technology, specialising in the development of innovative strike systems for armed forces, homeland security and special operations forces.
