The American company Meta has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art data centre, which, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, will be “so big it would cover a large part of Manhattan”. At the same time, the company is significantly expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) teams and has an ambitious goal to make Meta AI chatbot a leading assistant capable of serving more than a billion users.
For 2025, Meta has planned capital expenditures in the range of $60-65 billion, which is significantly higher than the projected $38-40 billion in 2024. The main focus will be on expanding computing capacity for AI tasks. The company is expected to have more than 1.3 million GPUs in its data centres by the end of the year. According to BMO Capital Markets analyst Brian Pitz, the cost of such processors could reach $22.5-33 billion.
Meta also has the capital to make further investments in the coming years, which underlines its ambitions in the field of innovative technology. However, the company is facing challenges: in September 2024, it was fined €91 million for violating the rules for storing user passwords.
Meta continues to establish itself as a global technology leader, aiming to change the future through strong investments in artificial intelligence and infrastructure.
