Poland Bans Import of Ukrainian Products: What Didn’t Make it to Polish Shelves in June
June 30, 2024,
The Polish Inspection for Agriculture and Food Quality (IJHARS) has banned the import of dozens of tons of agri-food products from Ukraine in June. This information was shared by the agency on their Facebook page.
Key Bans:
• June 27, Rzeszów: 25 decisions were made to ban the sale of 25 batches of organic dairy products (milk, yogurt, kefir, cream, cheese) with a total weight of 4.36 tons. Reason: improper labeling, unauthorized information about being GMO-free, and a lack of labeling in Polish.
• June 19, Lublin: a ban on the import of a batch of yellow millet weighing 22.43 tons due to the presence of live harmful organisms.
• June 11, Lublin: a ban on the import of 684 kg of cookies due to insufficient sugar content.
• June 4: a ban on the import of 20 tons of frozen raspberries due to the presence of mold and excessive organic impurities.
• June 14, Bydgoszcz: a ban on the import of 20 tons of skimmed milk powder due to improper labeling (lack of importer information and usage conditions).
• June 10: a ban on the import of more than 25,000 packages of fruit juices and nectars due to numerous violations, including incorrect expiration dates and a lack of information about processing conditions.
These measures underscore the strict Polish standards for food quality and safety and the necessity for compliance with all regulations for successful export to Poland.
