Prices for quality potatoes in Ukrainian farms have fallen by an average of 10%, to 18-28 UAH/kg, according to analysts of the EastFruit project.
According to their data, farmers are ready to ship potatoes at 18-28 UAH/kg (USD 0.43-0.68/kg), depending on the volume and quality of the product, which is 10% cheaper compared to the previous period. Analysts note that earlier sellers were able to maintain high prices, although trade activity was declining.
At the same time, producers are having difficulty selling potatoes, especially those that are not suitable for long-term storage. Most of them are cutting prices to attract wholesalers. Wholesale companies that previously purchased expensive goods on foreign markets are now selling excess quantities at a loss.
However, owners of quality potatoes will not rush to sell, as they expect the price situation on the market to improve.
At present, potato prices on the Ukrainian market are still 2.3 times higher than in early November last year.
