Ukraine recorded an impressive increase in agricultural exports in October. According to the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB), exports increased by 33.8% compared to September, reaching 6.6 million tonnes. The main reason for this growth was the completion of the harvest.
In October, grain exports increased by 33% to 4 million tonnes, including corn by 49%, wheat by 42%, and barley by 10%. The month also saw a 27% increase in oilseeds exports to 1.2 million tonnes (soybeans up 57%, rapeseed up 40% and sunflower up 1%).
Exports of vegetable oils increased by 38% to 590.2 thousand tonnes (sunflower oil – by 82%, rapeseed oil – by 11% and soybean oil – by 7%), while exports of oilcakes increased by 82% to 474.3 thousand tonnes (sunflower oil – by 85%, soybean oil – by 15%).
According to UCAB representatives, compared to the previous period, corn came out on top in grain exports, instead of wheat, and soybeans, instead of rapeseed, in oilseed exports. This is due to the fact that the harvest of these crops was completed in October.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy expects to harvest 75 million tonnes of grains and oilseeds this year, down 10 million tonnes from last year.
