Ukraine continues to rapidly increase its exports of frozen raspberries, approaching the global leaders in this segment – Serbia and Poland. In the first three months of the 2024/25 season (July-September), Ukrainian exporters supplied more than 28 thousand tonnes of frozen raspberries and blackberries to international markets. This is 36% more than in the same period last year and 45% more than in 2022. This is reported by the EastFruit portal .
Expanding the geography of supply
Although Poland remains a key market for Ukrainian raspberries, its share is gradually decreasing. Ukrainian producers are increasingly entering traditional Polish markets such as Germany and France. According to Andriy Yarmak, an economist at FAO’s investment department, Germany’s share of total Ukrainian raspberry exports already exceeds 20%.
Other important markets include the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Austria, Belgium and Italy. Also this season, Ukraine started supplying frozen raspberries to the US and Canada, while Serbia, the world’s leading raspberry exporter, purchased a significant batch of Ukrainian products in September, presumably for re-export.
Exports amid lower yields
Interestingly, the record export volumes occur despite farmers’ reports of a decline in the raspberry harvest in 2024. This demonstrates the high efficiency of Ukrainian suppliers in competing and expanding sales channels.
Ukraine is steadily consolidating its position in the international frozen food market, demonstrating the potential for further growth in this promising sector.
