The Israeli Defence Forces(IDF) continue a counter-terrorist operation in northern Samaria, particularly in the area of Jenin. The operation is being carried out in cooperation with the Israeli Police and the Israel Security Agency (Shabak) and is aimed at eliminating terrorist activity.

Attempted attack – and instant response

On Wednesday, a group of terrorists attacked Israeli soldiers in Silat al-Harithiya (Jenin district), throwing explosive devices at them. In response, IDF soldiers opened fire, killing one terrorist and wounding two others. No casualties were reported among the Israeli military.

Night raids: 8 suspects detained

During the night phase of the operation, eight suspected terrorists were detained and two illegal Carlo-type weapons – home-made automatic rifles – were seized. All detainees were transferred to the Shabak and the Israeli police for further interrogation.

Safety is a priority

The IDF emphasises that security forces will continue to act decisively against terror in Judea and Samaria. The purpose of the operation is to prevent attacks on Israeli citizens and neutralise militants before they can carry out threats.

Amid rising tensions in the region, Israel has stepped up operations in areas considered to be hotbeds of radicalism and illegal arms trafficking.
