Hollywood actress Sarah Michelle Gellar has officially confirmed that the relaunch of the cult TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer is in development. In her Instagram post, the star admitted that for a long time she did not see any prospects for the sequel, but changed her mind after discussing the details with director Chloe Zhao.
According to Gellar, she has always listened to fans who dreamed of Buffy’s return, but it requires the right approach: “I have always listened to the fans and heard your desire to return to Buffy and her world, but I couldn’t do it until I was sure we were going to get it right. It’s been a long process, and it’s not over yet. I promise you that we will only do this show when we are sure we can do it right. And I will tell you that we are on the right track.”
The actress also hinted that she will be taking part in the new project and working with a team of like-minded people: “I’m very lucky to be on this journey with these four incredibly talented women who love Buffy as much as I do. And as much as you do. Thank you to all the fans who have never stopped asking for this. This is for you.”
Details about the plot, cast and format are still under wraps, but it looks like we’re going to see the return of the cult story in an updated form
