The official posters for the new Marvel film Fantastic Four have sparked a heated discussion among fans. Attentive viewers noticed strange details that suspiciously resemble the features of images created by neural networks. This was reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Along with the first trailer of the superhero film, Marvel Studios has released a series of atmospheric posters in retro style. One of them depicts a crowd cheering for superheroes. However, social media users drew attention to the repetitive faces of women and the abnormal number of fingers of some characters.
Marvel at the centre of a scandal again?
Fans immediately assumed that Marvel used AI to create images, which could become a new scandal for the studio. Hollywood has repeatedly raised controversies about neural networks in creative processes, especially after the strikes of screenwriters and actors in 2023.
In response to the accusations, Marvel representatives stated that the posters were created using traditional methods and no AI was used. However, this did not stop fans from further discussions and memes about the “neural network Fantastic Four”.
The Fantastic Four film is scheduled to premiere in 2025, and while Marvel is trying to quell rumours, fans continue to scrutinise promotional materials for the use of artificial intelligence.
