The final end of the Bennifer story
The famous couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially divorced – the Los Angeles court approved their divorce agreement on 6 January, and it came into force on 21 February. This happened exactly six months after Lopez filed for divorce. This was reported by AP.
According to official documents, the former spouses reached an agreement through mediation back in September, avoiding the court battles that often accompany celebrity divorces.
Jennifer Lopez also dropped Affleck’s name in her official documents. It is known that the two parties will not pay each other alimony, and the issue of child custody is not on the table – they have no common offspring.
A second chance that did not meet expectations
Lopez and Affleck’s marriage, concluded in July 2022, lasted two years. However, documents show that they separated more than a year before filing a formal request for divorce.
It was the stars’ second attempt to build a life together. They first started a romance in 2002, quickly got engaged and even starred in the films Gigli and Jersey Girl (2004). However, due to public and media pressure, the couple cancelled the wedding and divorced in 2004.
Almost two decades later, in 2021, they got back together, this time formalising their relationship. But even this union proved to be short-lived.
Life after Bennifer
Before reuniting with Lopez, Affleck was married to actress Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children. They divorced in 2018.
Lopez, in turn, has been married four times. From her previous marriage to musician Marc Anthony, she has two twin children.
Fans of the Bennifer couple have long believed in a happy ending to this story, but it seems that this time the point has been put to rest.
