On 1 November, Lviv hosted a ceremony to award the winners of the 2024 Regional Prize in Culture, Literature, Art, Journalism and Architecture, as reported by the Lviv Regional Council. This year’s award is particularly important as it recognises the contribution of talented individuals to the development of the region’s cultural life.
This year, the jury selected 17 winners, including prominent artists, writers, musicians, journalists, and even architects, each of whom has made an outstanding contribution in their field. Iryna Gakh received the award in the Art History and Cultural Studies category for her album dedicated to Damian Horyniatkevych, highlighting his significant influence on art.
Bohdan Lazorak was recognised in the Museums category for creating a unique exhibition that reveals rare sacred treasures. In architecture, Gennadiy and Oleksandr Shulga received an award for their innovative approach to designing residential complexes that harmoniously combine the latest technologies and traditional architectural forms.
Novelist Alina Mykolyshyn was recognised for her trilogy Horra or Protest, which immersed readers in deep reflections on contemporary social challenges. In the field of music, Sofia Solovey was recognised for her performing skills and contribution to the creation of art projects.
Each winner received a cash prize of UAH 55,000 from the regional budget in recognition of their importance to the cultural heritage and innovative development of Lviv region. The ceremony not only honoured the skill and talent of the winners, but also re-emphasised the role of Lviv as the cultural heart of Ukraine.
