On 15 January, the British Film Academy announced the nominees for this year’s prestigious BAFTA Awards. The list of nominees includes the film Rock, Paper, Scissors, starring Ukrainian actors Oleksandr Rudynskyi and Serhii Kalantai. The film is nominated for the Best British Short Film award.
“Rock, Paper, Scissors” highlights the events related to the war in Ukraine through the dramatic stories of the characters. The film’s nomination demonstrates the recognition of Ukrainian themes and the participation of Ukrainian actors in world cinema.
Leaders of the nominations
This year’s leader in terms of the number of nominations was The Conclave by Edward Berger, which received 12 nominations. Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Perez is in second place with 11 nominations, and Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist received 9 nominations.
Other categories include the Best Picture nominees, where Anora, Brutalist, The Complete Stranger, The Conclave and Emilia Perez will compete for the win.
