Forged documents for luxury car found at Ukrainian border

Kyiv Customs has prevented the illegal import of a 1976 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II, a luxury car belonging to the elite Silver Shadow series, into Ukraine. This became known on 29 January.

The attempted import was made under a fake certificate of environmental compliance, which allegedly confirmed that the car complied with the Euro 2 standard, the minimum level for legal importation of vehicles into Ukraine.

During the customs clearance, the employees had doubts about the authenticity of the documents. An additional check by the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise confirmed that the certificate was forged and that the Rolls-Royce itself did not meet Euro 2 requirements.

The car was owned by a resident of Lviv region. According to experts, the market value of similar cars is about UAH 1.2 million.

Law enforcement response:

On 2 January, the customs office handed over the materials to the territorial department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Kyiv region on the facts of possible offences under Articles 201-4 and 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (smuggling and forgery of documents).

The Solomianskyi District Court of Kyiv ruled to seize the car. The investigation is ongoing.
