Billionaire Elon Musk has publicly stated that he does not support the idea of merging artificial intelligence company xAI and electric car manufacturer Tesla. He said this on the X social network, answering questions from Tesla investors, according to CNBC.
After the @BullStreetBets_ account on the X network published an open poll on the feasibility of merging Tesla and xAI, Musk briefly answered: “No.”
Against this backdrop, discussions continue on the future integration of Musk’s various businesses. Currently, he is considering whether to hold a vote among Tesla shareholders on the company’s potential investment in xAI, which develops the Grok AI chatbot.
In 2023, Musk conducted a similar survey among his social media followers, where the majority supported the idea of Tesla investing $5 billion in xAI.
In March 2025, it was announced that xAI would merge with the social platform X. As a result of the deal, xAI was valued at $80 billion and X at $33 billion.
